It is a pleasure to announce that Andrew Prescott, professor of Digital Humanities at King’s College, London, will give a keynote speech at the emtacl15 conference in Trondheim, 20-22 April 2015. Professor Prescott will open a special session on Digital Humanities and academic libraries. I would like to encourage DH-scholars and information professionals interested in this field to submit abstracts. Talks concerning the role of libraries in supporting and developping infrastructure for research within the Digital Humanities will be especially welcome.

Professor Prescott is ‘Theme Leader Fellow’ for the Arts and Humanities Research Council in the United Kingdom on its ‘Digital Transformations’ theme. He trained as a medieval historian, researching the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381. From 1979-2000, he was a Curator of Manuscripts in the British Library. He has subsequently worked in a number of digital humanities units and libraries at the University of Sheffield, University of Wales Trinity St David and University of Glasgow. He was the British Library co-ordinator for the ‘Electronic Beowulf’ project edited by Professor Kevin S Kiernan and has published a number of books and articles on the history of manuscripts, archives and libraries.
